Karen Mahoney is a senior human resources executive with more than 25 years of experience aligning talent strategy to business outcomes, organizational transformation, and sustained growth across the life sciences and medical device sectors. Throughout her career, she has focused on building high-performing organizations that enable innovation and improve outcomes for patients.

 

She currently serves as Chief Human Resources Officer at Vericel, where she focuses on strengthening organizational capability, leadership, and culture to support business performance and patient impact. Prior to joining Vericel, she was Chief Human Resources Officer at Abiomed, where she led enterprise-wide human capital strategy during a period of rapid growth and transformation, and played a key role in the company’s integration into Johnson & Johnson following its 2022 acquisition. Earlier in her career, she held global sales, marketing and talent leadership roles at PerkinElmer.

Karen holds a B.A. in Marketing from Assumption College and an M.B.A. from Suffolk University. Having lost several family members to cancer, she is deeply committed to advancing efforts that improve outcomes for patients and families through her involvement with the American Cancer Society.
